Part B:
Most Christians are aware of the fact that the word “Bible means “book”. The bible is composed of the individual books of the Old and New Testaments, or also known as the Old and New Covenants. The BIble is called “the Scriptures”, and Scripture means “holy writings”. In 2 Timothy 3:16 it says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (KJV). Scripture is referencing to the Bible in this context. The books included in the canon of scripture did not come into the Bible by accident. In the Old Testament, for a book to be canonical, it must have been written, edited or endorsed by a prophet. There are 39 books in the Old Testament and these books were recognized as Scriptures by the people of Jesus’ day and by Jesus Christ himself.
In the New Testament, the books that make up the canon must have been written or endorsed by an Apostle or have received divine authority in the apostolic age. Endorsement was necessary. Thus Mark was endorsed by Peter and Hebrews was endorsed by Paul.
